Information for Adult Braille Readers

We currently lend books to about 170 braille-reading adults throughout the UK. Some are parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles. Others read with children at their local school or library. If you need brailled children's books you can become a member of the ClearVision library. Membership is free for families. Once you have joined, we will send you six books and we ask you to change three at a time, as often as you like. You can keep books for up to six months. You are welcome to contact us at any time to comment on our books, to update us on your child's interests, or to request books on specific topics.

Some ClearVision books have been especially adapted for v.i. readers to share with sighted children. These books, funded by GDBA, have brief picture descriptions as well as the text of the story in braille. Discreet labels stuck on the illustrations enable the reader to point out items of interest in the picture. We also have very simple board books with braille labels so that adults with little or no sight can successfully share them with sighted babies and toddlers.
