Our Books

Books for Pre-readers

ClearVision has a large stock of mainstream novelty books with flaps, textures, sound buttons, etc, which can be lent to families, libraries, schools and anyone else who needs them. All these books are labelled in braille or Moon, to encourage the youngest children to become familiar with the idea of touch reading.

ClearVision also has a large collection of hand-made tactile books available for loan to schools, etc. only.

Fingerfun Books

Sam and the 5 ladybirds

ClearVision Fingerfun books have been specially designed to help children with little or no sight to develop tactile skills. They contain a simple, entertaining printed story, a key word in large print and braille (optional) on every page, bold black and white illustrations, and brightly-coloured robust thermoforms of everyday objects (spoon, comb, biscuits etc) featured in the stories. Matching real objects - easily found in most homes and schools - can be used alongside the thermoforms to make the stories really come to life.

The books can be enjoyed by children of any age, but three of the titles, Hurry Up!, Rubbish and Six Silly Poems have been especially designed to be age-appropriate for older children. Six Silly Poems is suitable for children who can read some braille and includes a more extensive vocabulary. Hide and Seek involves finding Betty the beetle on every page and may be considered more suitable for younger children.

The books have large print text with or without added braille. They are available for sale from RNIB or for loan from ClearVision.
