Joining the ClearVision Library
Information for Schools, VI services, or Similar
We currently lend books to about 150 schools, nurseries and VI services throughout the UK. Usually they borrow books for children who are learning braille but a few schools borrow books for sighted children to take home and read with v.i. parents. We have fiction and non-fiction books in grade 1 and grade 2 braille, catering for children who are working towards complete reading fluency. We also have a small but growing collection of simple books with the text in Moon.
The annual membership fee is £50.00. As soon as we have received a completed application form and payment you will receive your first loan. This will consist of 20 picture books OR 10 books for newly-fluent readers OR a mixed loan of 10 picture books and 6 books for newly-fluent readers (depending on what you have requested).
You can change your books up to six times a year and you can keep them for up to six months. When changing books we ask you to return ALL or HALF your loan, with a note of explanation if you are not returning the whole loan.
You will be invoiced for any books which are lost or damaged beyond repair but this will not usually be more than £12.00 per book.
