ClearVision Director Job Opportunity

ClearVision is looking for part maternity cover for the role of Director.

ClearVision is a small but vital national charity for children with sight loss. We take an innovative approach to meeting the reading needs of children with vision impairment, with or without additional disabilities, by providing a national postal lending library. Our library provides picture books with braille on interleaved pages catering to children from birth to the point of reading independently. Our collection also includes over a thousand hand-made tactile books – one of very few such collections worldwide. We currently serve around 1000 families, schools, public libraries and sensory support services across the UK and Ireland. Please see the rest of our website for more on the service we provide.

This is a part-time (3 day a week) role, to work alongside a professional fundraiser, managing all aspects of the charity's work. The job includes administration, staff and volunteer management and publicity. The successful candidate should have either a working knowledge or a willingness to learn a basic level of the braille code. They will need leadership and excellent communication skills and an awareness of children's reading needs. The role will be based in our library in a Special school setting in Southfields, South West London.

This is a post to part-cover maternity leave, starting in March 2017, for a projected period of nine months plus. Salary: £38, 729 pro rata. The post is subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
